You Don't Have to Compete — But Here's Why Comp Class Matters

Our Saturday competition class has a name that scares people off. 'Comp class' sounds like it's for medal hunters. It isn't.

The class is a longer, harder session with more live rolling and more coaching feedback than a regular fundamentals class. Yes, students who compete use it to prepare. But the majority of the room on any given Saturday are hobbyists — adults with jobs and families who just want to train hard, sharpen up, and be better on Monday than they were on Friday.

Why it helps even if you never compete: you get more mat time in a single session, you get to test technique under real pressure, and you get direct feedback from coaches while it's happening. That's the fastest way to actually improve.

Show up when you're ready. Nobody is going to force you into a live round you don't want. But the students who add one comp class a month to their regular training tend to move noticeably faster than the ones who don't.

See you Saturday.
